Healthy plants typically display very low reflectance and transmittance in visible region and very high reflectance and transmittance in NIR. This sharp dissimilarity in reflectance properties between visible and NIR wavelengths supports the majority of remote approaches for crop monitoring. The combination of pre-programmed and thus reproducible flight-routes with precise position-data makes the use of UAVs a real cost-saver, being an excellent decision support tool. Yield maps combined with NDVI and maps derived from diverse time series, enable us to identify productive units within the same parcel.
